Campo Grande – Student Housing Complex
University of Lisbon, Portugal
2nd Prize, Limited Competition
The University Residences are conceived as an urban intervention capable of generating a new neighbourhood. The project addresses the fragmented character of the university campus by establishing a network of public spaces—streets, squares and urban blocks—that reconnect the site with the surrounding city.
The proposal establishes a dialogue with the university buildings constructed in the 1950s, reinterpreting their architectural language and spatial principles.
The programme, comprising student accommodation, commercial spaces and parking facilities, is organised in response to the site’s natural topography. Different ground levels structure the complex and its uses, while reinforcing the relationship between the buildings, public spaces and the city.
